Our City has a Council-Manager form of government. The current and past elected Mayors including my opponent regularly ignore this model and meddle in the management of the City which was on full display this past year. The Mayor is only one of a team of Council Members who on behalf of the City's residents and businesses direct the City Manager. It is the City Manager who must then manage the employees. It is difficult for a manager of any organization to maintain accountability if the Mayor under the Council-Manager government interfers with that function. I will work with the entire Council to provide unified and clear direction to the City Manager to perform his duties without unnecessary interference. A well run government will benefit Mount Dora residents and businesses.
