Mount Dora residents have been concerned about parking downtown for decades. Other than the grass surface parking lot in 2018, nothing significant has been done to improve parking since I was previously on city council. Those last big steps were the addition of the Methodist Church and First Baptist Church parking lots to our inventory. There are many ideas that have been suggested but no action has been taken to implement solutions to the problem other than a proposed satellite shuttle service which appears ill-fated. These untested ideas include: metered/monitored parking in the downtown core; a shuttle providing transportation from the Methodist Church; converting to one way streets to allow additional and easier diagonal parking; and acquiring smaller lots for golf carts.

The City and my opponent had an opportunity to acquire the old Post Office property for a surface lot for a partial solution but took no action. My opponent lost one of her reelection bids as an incumbent mayor mainly because the streetscape downtown reduced parking and eliminated Oak trees.
