MOUNT DORA NORTH (N of SR 46/ E of Round Lake Rd)

Updated: Sep 15

Lake County is moving forward with the rezoning of 260 acres E of Round Lake Rd and North of SR 46. The irony is that the developmemnt is called Mount Dora North. Lake County plans to amend its Future Land Us Map (FLUM) and rezone the land to accommodate 3,242 new homes. As usual, the County is ignoring the Joint Planning Agreement with Mount Dora and the plans for the Wolf Branch Innovation District which was designed to mitigate overdevelopment of residences and create commercial zones that had a positive impact on our tax base and did not overwhelm our schools, roads, parks and utilities. Mount Dora is already planning a 10% increase in water rates and a 13.75% increase in sewer rates in next fiscal year's budget. Additionally, Mount Dora does not have the capacity for this development without adversely affecting our water quality and overwhelming our current sewer plant. Mount Dora needs to take action to stop this overdevelopment but currently the City lacks the willingness to stand up for its residents and its neighbors against the County and the developers to stop the overdevelopment.

Attached is the Rezoning packet.
